TRACK & FIELD: Four from Cherokee H.S. qualify for state meet

Four athletes from Cherokee High School qualified for the NCHSAA State Championship with their performances at the 1A West Regional meet on Saturday, May 14 at the East Burke High School track in Connelly Springs.  Kensen Davis qualified in the shot put and discus and was joined by Alexis Smith in the discus and Jaylen Bark and Tyce Hogner in the 1600M run.

Davis placed fourth in the boys discus with a throw of 136-09 and third in the boys shot put with a throw of 43-00.  Bark placed second in the boys 1600M run with a time of 4:47.14, and Hogner took fourth in that race with a time of 4:59.35.  Smith placed third in the girls discus with a distance of 94-07.

They will compete at the state meet being held at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro on Saturday, May 21.
