SYLVA – Forty Southwestern Community College students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society on Monday, April 6, on SCC’s Jackson Campus including EBCI tribal Gwynneth Bird of Cherokee.  All of the students hold at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average, were nominated by a teaching faculty member and rank among the top 20 percent of active students in their respective programs.

“Every one of these inductees has worked hard for this honor, and they’ve received a lot of support from family and friends as well as the faculty and staff here,” said Dr. Thom Brooks, SCC’s executive vice president for instruction and student services. “NTHS recognizes outstanding student achievement in career and technical education. It encourages higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence and helps students find success in the workplace. We’re extremely proud of all these students.”
