Celebrate Earth Day by participating in a new community event, Gadugi Earth Day, on Wednesday, April 22 from 1-6pm at the Acquoni Expo Center parking lot. The rain date for the event is the following Wednesday, April 29.

This Gadugi Earth Day event will provide Earth-friendly experiences and learning opportunities for the whole family. The event will include opportunities to recycle (paper, cardboard, #1 and #2 plastics, metal and glass), shred unwanted paper documents, dispose of syringes and needles, and learn about composting and pick up some vegetable garden seeds.

This first ever Gadugi Earth Day will focus on recycling. Fantastic prizes will be given for the individuals who bring in the most recycling (measured by weight). A shredding truck will be at the event from 1-5pm offering shredding services free of charge. Shredding will be included in the recycling competition. The top recyclers from each Cherokee Community will be eligible for prizes. The Community that weighs-in with the most recycling will receive special recognition for their Community Club.

This event is being hosted by Tribal Recycling, the Costa Rica Eco Study Tour student travelers, the Cherokee Youth Council, the Junaluska Leadership Council, Cherokee Preservation Foundation, EBCI Cooperative Extension, Tribal Composting, and the Cherokee Indian Hospital.
