Margaret Ann Hicks, 78 of Cherokee, NC, died on Saturday April 30, 2011, at the Cherokee Indian Hospital in Cherokee, NC.
Born November 23, 1932 in Cherokee NC, she was the daughter of the late Ammoneeta Saunooke and Nancy Tooni Saunooke.
She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Johnny Hicks of Cherokee, NC and Edwin “Soup” Saunooke and wife Fern of Cherokee, NC. One daughter, Charlotte Saunooke of Cherokee, NC; five grandchildren, Zach Goings, Kasdan Saunooke, Brandon Saunooke, Max Saunooke and Josh Saunooke and nine great-grandchildren, Aurora Saunooke, Isabella Saunooke, Ava Saunooke, Phillip Saunooke, Kenel Saunooke, Jandence Saunooke, Taylem Saunooke, Cole Saunooke, and Kai Saunooke.
Along with her parents Margaret is also preceded in death by one sister, Letha Cucumber.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 pm on May 3 at Rock Springs Baptist Church, located on Old Gap Road, Cherokee NC with Pastor Greg Morgan officiating. The pall bearers will be Greg French, Richard French, James Crow, Manuel Watty, Steve Lambert, and Mike Brown. The interment was in the Standingdeer Family Cemetery, Cherokee, NC.
The family will receive from 5:00 pm May 2 till the service hour on Tuesday at Rock Spring Baptist Church, Cherokee, NC.
Long House Funeral Home assisted the family in the services.
