Cherokee Cross Country Teams participate in Regional Meet

HENDERSONVILLE – The Cherokee High School Cross Country teams participated in the 1A Regional meet in Hendersonville on Saturday, Oct. 30.  Neither team cracked the top four to qualify for the State Meet according to results from nc.preptrack.com.

On the boy’s side, the top four teams were Robbinsville (21), Highland Tech (85), Hayesville (90) and Hendersonville (103).  The top four teams on the girl’s side were Hendersonville  (28), Robbinsville (61), Hayesville (71) and Swain County (98).  

Tacey Trammell, a senior at Robbinsville, took first place in the girl’s division with a time of 19:13.68.  She was followed by Kristen Stout, a senior from Hendersonville, with a time of 19:57.91 and Mary Chesnut Smith, a senior from Avery with a time of 20:42.93.  

Shayna Ledford, a junior who placed 31st, posted the top time for Cherokee’s girls with a time of 23:25.40.  She was followed by sophomore Jordyn Thompson (38th) with a time of 23:49.24 freshman Jasmyn Wolfe (54th) with a time of 27:52.00

Creaighton Boxberger, a senior at Robbinsville, took first place in the boy’s division with a time of 16:21.21.  He was followed by Tyler Massey, also a senior at Robbinsville, with a time of 16:21.58 and Dylan Thompson, a sophomore at Hayesville, with a time of 16:36.47.  

Anthony Lee, a sophomore who placed 28th, posted the top time for Cherokee’s boys with a time of 18:56.32.  He was followed by sophomore Gerald Mahan (29th) with a time of 18:57.40, freshman Levi Swearingen (48th) with a time of 20:09.13, freshman Earl Carroll with a time of 20:41.03 and freshman Hunter Lambert (63rd) with a time of 21:24.23.
