WRESTLING: Cherokee wrestlers compete at state
Three members of the Cherokee Braves varsity wrestling team competed at the state tournament held at the Greensboro Coliseum on Feb. 16-17.

A total of three athletes, including two EBCI tribal members, signed letters of intent to play college sports during a Signing Day event at Swain County High School on the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 7.
Five Cherokee athletes sign letters of intent
Five athletes at Cherokee High School signed letters of intent to play college sports on National Signing Day. Four members of the Cherokee Braves 1A State Championship football team and one member of the Lady Braves basketball team signed during a ceremony held in the Charles George Memorial Arena on the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 7.
BASKETBALL: Braves, Lady Braves finish regular season atop Conference
The Cherokee Braves (16-3) and Lady Braves (14-5) both finished their regular season atop the Big Smoky Mountain Conference.
BASKETBALL: Straughan, Teesateskie hit 1,000 pt. milestone on same night
Two Cherokee varsity basketball players hit career milestones on the same evening. Holden Straughan, Braves senior, and Tori Teesateskie, Lady Braves junior, both scored the 1,000th point of their career during games against Andrews at the Charles George Memorial Arena on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 6.
