The JV Braves (1-0) started out their 2014 season with a bang as they traveled to Hayesville on Thursday, Aug. 28 and came back with a 28-0 shutout win.

The Lady Braves varsity volleyball team (1-1) traveled to Blue Ridge on Tuesday, Aug. 26 and came back with a 3-1 victory.  Cherokee lost the first game 25-21 before coming back to win the next three (25-21, 25-13, 26-24) to win the match and pull to an even 1-1 on...

The Lady Braves traveled to Maggie Valley Club and Resort on Monday, Aug. 25 for their third match of the season to take on the Highland Highlanders and the Smoky Mountain Mustangs. The Mustangs cancelled before the match, leaving the Lady Braves 10-person team against a two-person Highlands team.

Cherokee Braves QB Brandon Buchanan is the EBCI Emergency Management Cherokee High School Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 18-22.

The scoreboard may not have reflected it at the end, but the Braves’ season opener against Tuscola at Waynesville Middle School on Friday, Aug. 22 was a success for Cherokee. They played well and put together a nice fourth quarter comeback that fell just short as they lost 35-28.

Coach Sharon Bradley isn’t shy about setting lofty goals for her team at the beginning of the season. After reaching the NCHSAA 1A West Regionals Golf Tournament five times of the Lady Braves’ Golf six year existence, Coach Bradley is confident a Lady Brave will be teeing up in the final tournament at Pinehurst in late October.
