USET Annual Meeting opens in Cherokee
On Oct. 4, 1968, tribal leaders from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and the Seminole Tribe of Florida met and formed an organization that would become USET (United South and Eastern Tribes). The organization has since grown to 26 tribes, and its 2016 Annual Meeting opened during the morning of Monday, Oct. 24 at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort.
Tribe to secure financing for $100 million Data Center
Techopedia defines a data center as “a repository that houses computing facilities like servers, routers, switches and firewalls”. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is looking at building a 100,000 square foot data center in Cherokee County.
Chief Lambert declares Water Shortage Advisory
As the drought conditions continue throughout western North Carolina, water conservation methods are being mandated by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
