WCU Health building reopens after state, local officials deem it safe to return to normal operations
Western Carolina University’s Health and Human Sciences Building reopened Monday, Feb. 10 after county, state and university officials found no public health or safety issues at the building in the wake of a potential hazardous materials incident that resulted in its evacuation.

According to the latest complete data from NCDOT, 147 people were killed and 3,351 were injured in traffic accidents involving motorcycles in 2013 (North Carolina 2013 Traffic Crash Facts); and another 829 accidents occurred involving mopeds or scooters resulting in 34 deaths and 725 injuries. 19 deaths are reported from bicycle accidents.

Little League signups. Sign-ups for Little League are currently underway and will end on Saturday, Feb. 2. Baseball (7-8, 9-10, 11-12) and Softball (7-8, 9-10, 11-12). Sign up at any Cherokee recreation center, and they are entering in a draft with Bryson City.
WRESTLING: Cherokee takes 3rd at Saunooke tournament
The Cherokee varsity wrestling team took third place at the Osley B. Saunooke Wrestling Invitational held at Cherokee High School on Saturday, Dec. 15.
