An additional 14 COVID-19 cases have been identified at Graham Healthcare and Rehabilitation. 12 cases are residents, and two cases are staff members.
Tribal Council votes to remove BIA agency superintendent
Tribal Council passed a resolution unanimously during its regular session on Thursday, Sept. 3 that requests the Superintendent of the Cherokee Agency of the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) be reassigned from his position and away from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
Tribal Council approves $3.4 million land purchase for casino property
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) has begun the process to purchase a four-acre lot in the Painttown Community for a price of $3,400,000.

Warriors raise money for Children’s Home, in traditional way
The Warriors of Anikituwah saw a need within the community, and they’re trying to do their part to help. During the recent Cherokee Voices Festival at the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, the Warriors raised $511 that they will donate to help with the construction of the new Cherokee Children’s Home.
Forest Service announces Ginseng Permit Process for 2015
The U.S. Forest Service, National Forests in North Carolina announced that forest visitors have until Wednesday, July 15 to submit their contact information to a Nantahala or Pisgah National Forest district office if they want to participate in the lottery to receive a ginseng harvest permit this year.
