COVID-19 cluster identified at local Cherokee church
On Monday, Dec. 14, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) and Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority identified a COVID-19 cluster at the Old Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located at 2868 Wrights Creek Road in Cherokee.
Tribe not enacting curfew order
Due to the continued rising amount of COVID-19 cases, the State of North Carolina has a curfew order taking effect on Friday, Dec. 11; however, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) has decided not to follow suit.

Cherokee’s varsity basketball teams traveled to Blue Ridge, Ga. on Friday, Jan. 24 and came away with two wins. The Braves (8-9) won 67-47, and the Lady Braves (15-2) won big 77-31.
