Patsy Everhart Ledford, Steve Youngdeer American Legion Post 143 Auxiliary president, has served the members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians for years in various capacities, and now she is an honorary member of the Tribe.

COMMENTARY: Something fishy at the Fairgrounds
For years, the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds was an “animal prize” free zone. I know because I was the one who instituted the policy during the years that game vendors with live prizes were turned away. This year, for whatever reason, that policy was reversed or ignored.

TRACK & FIELD: Cherokee hosts SMC Championship
It was a cold, windy and rainy day, but it didn’t dampen the competitive spirit as Cherokee hosted the Smoky Mountain Conference Track & Field Championship on Wednesday, April 29.
MS TRACK: Cherokee boys take second place at Conference
The Cherokee Middle School track teams traveled to the Smoky Mountain Conference Championships at Hayesville on Monday, April 27. The boys team took second place overall with a score of 85.5.
GOLF: Ensley named All-Conference, Braves clinch Regionals Berth
Cherokee High School junior, Christian Ensley, was named All-Conference at the conclusion of the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament at the Sapphire National Golf Club on Monday, April 27.
