The Cherokee One Feather invited all candidates in the 2023 EBCI (Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians) Election to weigh in on various topics. Each candidate was given a 250-word limit per topic. Parrish Pipestem, a student at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Okla., has been named a semifinalist in the 66th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Qualla Country Trout Tournament winners
The 2020 Qualla Country Trout Tournament was held in Cherokee on Sept. 4-5. A total of 6,000 lbs. of fish were stocked in the days just prior to the tournament on Sept. 1-3 and 217 tagged fish were stocked on Sept. 4 after fishing hours.

OBITUARY: Eugene (Stiggy) Stigman
Eugene (Stiggy) Stigman, 73, of the Birdtown Community, went peacefully to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. A native of Minnesota and longtime resident of Cherokee, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Helen Stigman.

Moses Lossiah, 73, of the Big Y Community, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 8, 2022. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of the late David and Lydia WIlnoty Lossiah.

John Norman Driver, age 60, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Mission Hospital following an extended illness.

Birdtown Community Building Clean-Up Day
July 12 at 10am at the Birdtown Community Building and grounds. Food will be provided afterwards. If raining, the clean-up day will be postponed to July 26. All community members are invited come out and help.
Vacation Bible School at Acquoni Baptist
