A Cherokee County man who sold large quantities of illegal drugs out of a Canton hotel room will spend, at minimum, one month shy of 44 years in state prison.
Haywood Co. man sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder
A Haywood County man who killed a baby left in his care will spend the remainder of his life in prison, District Attorney Ashley Hornsby Welch said.
EBCI tribal member to serve as vice president of tribal food organization

A total of three athletes, including two EBCI tribal members, signed letters of intent to play college sports during a Signing Day event at Swain County High School on the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Five athletes at Cherokee High School signed letters of intent to play college sports on National Signing Day. Four members of the Cherokee Braves 1A State Championship football team and one member of the Lady Braves basketball team signed during a ceremony held in the Charles George Memorial Arena on the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 7.
