We are all wondering what happened to our world. On a planet that is more connected than ever before, we deal daily with the aftermath of actions taken because members of our society feel isolated, segregated, and alone. Isolation is a breeding ground for sociopathic behavior, addiction, and criminal activity.

Joshua “Josh” Littlejohn, age 39, passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, with his loving family and friends by his side.

For the first time in its 17-year history, the Talking Trees Children’s Fishing Derby was postponed. On the Thursday before the derby, the river was swollen from days of constant and torrential rain.

Recently, I had a three-day stay in the Cherokee Indian Hospital at Cherokee.  Even though I was very sick, this experience was a high water mark for me.

People are driving too fast, ignoring speed limit signs and pedestrians in crosswalks. The downtown speed limit is 20 mph. It is common to see vehicles traveling through the downtown area at twice that speed.

When my sister was diagnosed with cancer, we felt we had time. Time to…ensure our moments together were meaningful. It was a short six months.

The Healing and Wellness Coalition was started in 2002.  It has been an unforgettable journey that we have traveled in the interest of healing and wellness among the Cherokee people as well as many of our friends and allies. 

When we chose, as mankind, to domesticate animals, we took on responsibility. Domestic dogs have had the wild, the instinct for self-preservation, tamed out of them.
