The Museum of the Cherokee Indian (MCI) has announced the hiring of Alex Lane, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), as its new manager of Visitor Services.

The Center for Native Health provides scholarships to MedCaT students across western North Carolina and recently announced the most recent awardees.

Cherokee Elementary and Cherokee Middle School TaG students participated in the Pathfinder program at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala. July 29-31. 

After a four-year hiatus, the Madison Hornbuckle Children’s Cancer Foundation is back and ready to fulfill its mission of helping western North Carolinas families affected by childhood cancer. 

Harrah’s Cherokee Casinos presented a $70,000 check to Folds of Honor on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The donation is the result of funds raised during the company’s six-week beverage fundraising event, in addition to the generous donation of $10,000 from its SALUTE Committee.

Cherokee High School Honor Roll – 4th Quarter

The 2022 Tim Hill Memorial Fish Tournament was held in Cherokee on July 8-9.  A total of 232 anglers registered for the event with 55 tags being turned in out of the 237 tagged fish. 

At just 15 years old, Noqwisi Crowe is one of the veteran members of the “Unto These Hills” production in Cherokee.
