¡Olé!, is an old Spanish expression that is used when cheering or applauding an event. This expression was heard repeatedly during the recent “Sealant Fiesta” at Cherokee Elementary school. Third and fifth grade students had the opportunity to receive dental care during school hours. Each participant received a visual exam, brushing and flossing instructions, fluoride varnish and dental sealants; without ever leaving the school. During this event, 102 children were seen and 368 dental sealants were placed.

Mellie Burns, EBCI Children’s Dental Program manager, notes, “The success of this project is due to the tremendous cooperation from many people. Without their contributions this event simply would not have taken place.”
