Etta Beasley Frizzell, 87, of Bryson City, NC passed away peacefully May 4, 2011, after a period of declining health. Mrs. Frizzell was born in Sylva, NC, the daughter of the late Harvey and Lena Shepard Beasley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifford, W. Frizzell and her sisters, Alice Fox, Mattie Deitz, Ola Deitz, and Winnie Dillard.
Mrs. Frizzell is survived by a son, Ron Frizzell and wife Katrina; a daughter, Sandra Laws; grandchildren, Mark Laws and wife Lorrie, Lance Frizzell, Marisa Laws, Jenny Frizzell, Jake Frizzell; and great grandson, Weston Laws. She is also survived by sisters, Marie Parker and Evelyn Wellmon; a brother, Carol Beasley and wife Betty; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a longtime member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. She worked at Belk and Bumgarner Department Stores, and managed Deep Creek Lodge for several years.
Mrs. Frizzell’s family is grateful for the love shown to her by special friends, Dessie McGugan, Frances Cook, Bob and Kathie Wojdylo, and Linda Cross. Her family is also appreciative of the care and support shown by the staff of Memorial Mission Hospital and Mountain View Manor Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2011 in the chapel. Graveside services were at the Stillwell Cemetery, with Reverend Earl Holden officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Fund for Tornado Relief.
