Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel continues their partnership with the American Cancer Society by donating $8500 to support their charitable efforts in the fight against cancer.  The $8,500 donation will focus $5,000 for the Cherokee Relay with the remaining funds to support other Relay events in the seven western counties of Western North Carolina. The first official Harrah’s Cherokee Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Relay for Life will be held Friday, June 17 from 6-11pm at the Acquoni Expo Center in Cherokee, NC.

“The Harrah’s Cherokee-EBCI Relay  is an event to raise funds for a cause that has touched so many of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel employees and tribal members”, said Jo Blaylock, vice president of HR and External Relations.  “During the evening, teams will honor survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and work together to fundraise for a cure. “

The goals for the Relay are to register 10 teams and that 40 survivors are registered and present for the survivors’ reception in order to raise $20,000.  The hope is to grow The Harrah’s Cherokee – EBCI Relay for Life to an annual event that supports the American Cancer Society’s mission and focus to be an event where “folks” know they are among community supporters from Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel, the EBCI and The American Cancer Society.
