Jordan Collins gained 160 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns to lead the Andrews Wildcats to a 20-14 victory over the Braves on Friday, Oct. 29 at Ray Kinsland Stadium.
Cherokee had two running backs go over 100 yards, but were only able to generate 14 points. Dorian Walkingstick continued his quest for a 2,000 yard season with 154 yards on 35 carries and QB Jesse Blanton added 108 yards on 16 carries. Blanton threw for one touchdown and ran for another.
Walkingstick needs 219 yards in this Friday’s game at Robbinsville to pass the 2K mark on the regular season.
Cherokee got on the board first in the contest as Blanton hit Eli Crowe on a 9-yard touchdown pass with just 23 seconds left in the first quarter. Tommy Lossiah added the extra point and Cherokee led 7-0.
The second quarter was all Andrews as Collins scored twice on runs of 33 and 17. The first point-after kick failed, but they were able to convert the two-point conversion after the second touchdown to take a 14-7 lead into the locker room.
Collins added another touchdown in the third quarter on a 25-yard run. The kick failed again and Andrews led 20-7 just two minutes into the half.
That was the end of scoring for the third quarter and most of the fourth as well. Blanton scored on a 6-yard run with just over two minutes left. Lossiah added the point-after kick, but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats took the win 20-14.
