SAPPHIRE – Christian Ensley shot an 83 to finish first in the individual category and lead the Braves to victory in their final regular season match of the season at Sapphire National Golf Club in Sapphire on Tuesday, April 20. Collectively, the Braves carded a 384 to finish above Blue Ridge, Nantahala, and Rosman.
“The course was one of the more difficult ones we have faced this year,” said Braves Head Coach Andrew Maney. “There were a lot of long par 4’s and bunkers are placed around most greens.
Ensley (83) led the Braves, along with Steven Straughan (97), John Lossiah (101), Josh Taylor (104), Holden Straughan (106) and Justin Brady (110) to a first place finish over Blue Ridge. Rosman and Nantahala didn’t have enough team members to qualify.
“Christian and Holden both had a birdie on two tough par 3’s,” said Coach Maney after the round. “Josh Taylor played one of his better rounds of the season and we were able to use his score as one of our top four scores.”
