Lady Braves volleyball report

Cherokee 3 Robbinsville 1

The Lady Braves (7-8) beat the Lady Black Knights of Robbinsville 3-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 18.  The match score was 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20.

“Our middles had another great night with Callie Phillips leading the team with 10 kills and 20 service points, including three aces,” said coach Kim Arkansas.  “Avery Mintz had 8 kills, 4 digs and 4 blocks, and setters Kayla Bradley and Kendall Toineeta had 8 assists each.”

 

Rosman 3 Cherokee 1

The Lady Braves lost 3-1 to the Lady Tigers of Rosman on Thursday, Sept. 20.  The match score was 23-25, 25-15, 25-8, 25-12.  “The Lady Braves started strong against the first place team winning the first set before faltering in the next three,” said Arkansas.  “Unforced errors and a non-attack offense hurt against a team of this caliber.”

Arkansas related she wanted to point out the good play of juniors Taran Swimmer and Kayla Bradley.

 

Swain 3 Cherokee 0

The Lady Braves lost 3-0 against the Lady Maroon Devils of Swain on Tuesday, Sept. 25.  The match score was 25-13, 29-27, 25-3.

“Once again, the Lady Braves proved we can play with the best teams in the conference pushing the second set to extra points against the second place team,” said Arkansas.  “We never got going in the third set and finished poorly after playing well the first two.”

“Senior Callie Phillips played an excellent game with 9 kills and 3 blocks.  Junior setter Kayla Bradley continues to improve her setting skills and on-court decision-making.  Sophomores Sarai McMillan and Kaycee Lossiah, seeing her first varsity action of the season, were praised for their back row play.”

 

The JV Lady Braves (8-7) lost to Robbinsville 2-0 (25-20, 25-18) on Sept. 18.  They lost 2-0 (25-14, 25-21) to Rosman on Sept. 20, and they lost to Swain 2-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-13) on Sept. 25.
