The Eastern Band Fund for Financial Literacy and Children’s Health Issues committee is now accepting applications for grants that provide for programs dealing with financial literacy in middle and high school students, children’s health issues and other issues related to the welfare of children.  Grant applications are available by calling Sue LeLievre 800-201-9532.  The deadline for submitting applications is July 31.

The fund began in 2004 with a gift from First Citizens Bank and has grown through donations and investment income.  The committee is excited to be able to offer grants to help with these deserving issues.  If your organization works with children and youth issues, please take this opportunity to apply for these funds.

Tax-deductible contributions can be made by any organization or individual who wishes to increase the principal of the Literacy Fund, which is managed and allocated for the benefit of children and youth.  Contributions should be made payable to the Eastern Band Fund for Financial Literacy and mailed to North Carolina Community Foundation, 4601 Six Forks Rd., Suite 524, Raleigh, NC  27609.  Donors also can establish endowment funds to fulfill their own charitable objectives with an investment of at least $10,000.

For information on the Eastern Band for Financial Literacy Fund, contact Ellison Rudd@ 828- 497-2041 or Sue LeLievre, Regional Associate at 800-201-9532.
