Cherokee High School played host to 149 runners as the NCHSAA 1-A West Regional Cross Country Regional meet was held there on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, in association with the EBCI Fish and Wildlife Department and assistance from the North Carolina Fly Fishing Team, hosted the 2011 Rumble in the Rhododendron fly-fishing tournament.

The Cherokee Braves fell to 3-7 on the year with a 14-7 loss to the Andrews Wildcats on Friday, Oct. 21.
