Bitter cold grips Cherokee
It may not have been as cold as International Falls, Minn., but Cherokee and the surrounding area was hit with bitterly cold weather starting on Sunday, Jan. 5. Temperatures dipped below zero on many parts of the Cherokee Indian Reservation causing pipes to freeze and power to go out in places.

WCU chancellor to meet with Cherokee residents Jan. 30
Western Carolina University Chancellor David O. Belcher will meet with residents of the Cherokee community Thursday, Jan. 30, as part of a series of events designed to keep the university connected with alumni, friends and elected officials.
