Bill to place Tennessee lands into trust for EBCI passes House
A bill (H.R. 226) that would place 76 acres of land, containing several Cherokee historic sites in eastern Tennessee, in trust for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) has passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

The EBCI (Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians) Division of Housing broke ground on a new development in Wayohi (Wolftown) on the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Missing hiker Ann Houghton found deceased in Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Missing hiker Ann Houghton, age 73, was found deceased in Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Sunday, Feb. 2 at approximately 1:53 p.m. She was found roughly a quarter mile off of Enloe Creek Trail.

Tribal member wins awards for gardening, beekeeping
For Sharon Braswell-Zern and her husband, Leidy Zern, gardening and beekeeping are a way of life. Sharon, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, operates a farm with Leidy in Yancey County, N.C.

COMMENTARY: Good Friday and victimization
There is a real irony for Christians and veterans that Vietnam Veterans’ Day falls on Good Friday, March 29. This is a day sacred to Christians. It is also a day set aside by bureaucrats to memorialize the 58,267 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam and those of us that survived.
