Park searching for missing hiker near Clingmans Dome
Great Smoky Mountains National park rangers are searching for a 53-year-old woman from Cleves, Ohio who was last seen in the Clingmans Dome area of the park on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Federal Opioid Reduction Task Force initiative leads to 76 arrests on Qualla Boundary
A major law enforcement operation targeting drug trafficking in and around the Qualla Boundary (Cherokee Indian Reservation) has resulted in the arrest of 76 individuals on federal, state and tribal charges, announced Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke and Andrew Murray, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina on Thursday, Sept. 27.
Qualla Boundary named Tribal Destination of the Year by AIANTA
The Qualla Boundary, home to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, was named Tribal Destination of the Year which “honors a destination that encompasses the following: excellent customer service, visitor-friendly destination, authentic cultural heritage experience(s) and amenities for visitors”.
