Tribal Council approved a proposal, during Budget Council on Tuesday, Feb. 5, to purchase about 122 acres of land in Sevier County, Tenn.
Man found dead in park died from methamphetamine intoxication
A man, whose body was found by Great Smoky Mountains National Park Rangers scavenged by a bear, died from accidental methamphetamine intoxication, according to the findings of an autopsy report.

The Cherokee Lady Braves (23-5) ended their season on Wednesday, March 2 with a loss in the 1A Regional Semifinals to Bishop McGuinness (24-6).

Will Bird is state champion. The Cherokee High School junior won three decisions in the 189lb. division including an overtime win by one point at this past weekend’s 1A State Wrestling Tournament held at the Greensboro Coliseum to secure his championship.
