Search warrant leads to three drug-related arrests on Veterans Day
On the evening of Thursday, Nov. 11, the Cherokee Indian Police Department (CIPD) lead by a joint task force organized by the Chief of Police which is made up of the CIPD Narcotics Division, CIPD Criminal Interdiction Team, Tribal ALE, and the Office of the Tribal Prosecutor, obtained and executed a search warrant at 234 Fisher Branch Road on the Qualla Boundary. This search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation and led to the arrests of three individuals.
Cherokee honors those who served
Community members filled the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds to the brim on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month to honor those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Bill to place Tennessee lands in trust for EBCI passes House
Once again, a bill that would place 76 acres of land containing several historic sites in eastern Tennessee in trust for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) has passed the U.S. House of Representatives. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Historic Lands Reacquisition Act, H.R. 2088, passed by a margin of 407-16.

Quite a few graves in the Snowbird Community near Robbinsville are either unmarked or the markers have become unreadable due to years of wear. Ryen Bird, an EBCI tribal member from the Snowbird Community and a junior at Robbinsville High School, is working to remedy that situation.
