Dinilawigi (Tribal Council) passes resolution for MMIP database

On the afternoon of April 3 during regular session, Dinilawigi (Tribal Council), voted unanimously to pass Res. No. 4775: A resolution to authorize and request the development of a single EBCI database of information and cases concerning Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP), submitted by Ugvwiyuhi (Principal Chief) Michell Hicks.

OBITUARY: Fred Bruner Lunsford

Fred Bruner Lunsford, born March 7, 1925, to the late Inez Rogers and Pearlie M. Lunsford; passed to his Heavenly Home on March 1, 2025 (six days before his 100th birthday). He joined his beloved wife of 70 years, Gladys Greene Lunsford, who died on Aug. 14, 2014.

Native America Calling receives National Humanities Medal

Native America Calling, a program of the Alaska-based Koahnic Broadcast Corporation, is a recipient of the National Humanities Medal from The National Endowment for the Humanities. The award was presented to Koahnic’s president and chief executive officer, Jaclyn Sallee, by U.S. President Joe Biden at a White House ceremony on Tuesday, March 21.
