COMMENTARY: Your freedom hinges on freedom of speech

When the One Feather was created, a group of community leaders determined that the Tribe should have a way to put out information from the government in mass production so that decisions made by the government were provided quickly to the citizens of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

COMMENTARY: Don’t move rocks in tribal, park waterways

I drive by the Oconaluftee River, on the Qualla Boundary, multiple times daily and I frequently take walks on the Oconaluftee River Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  It seems that as tourism increases in late spring and summer, a practice increases – one that damages river ecosystems for many species…moving and stacking rocks.

COMMENTARY: Voting – use it or lose it

Decisions made at all levels of government (President and Congress in Washington, DC, General Assembly in Raleigh and County Commissioners, Sheriffs, Courts, etc.) impact the daily lives of Cherokee people.
