Bone Marrow Drive planned for Cherokee
EBCI tribal member Brandi Cooper has a rare bone marrow disease. Doctors have been unable to determine which of three diseases she has (Aplastic Anemia, Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH), or myelodisplacia), but one thing they are sure of is that a bone marrow transplant would cure her….that much is certain.
Cherokee names Top Students
They played sports with each other as Lady Braves and now they get to share the top two slots in the Cherokee High School Class of 2011. Rayna Davis has been named the valedictorian and Kayla Smith has been named salutatorian.
Volunteers help Neighbors during 7th Annual Cherokee Day of Caring
During the 7th annual Cherokee Day of Caring on May 19, approximately 240 community volunteers helped neighbors selected by their communities for assistance and pitched in to help with painting, yard clean-up, gardening, and fix-it projects.

Harrah’s, Tribe re-up Contract for Seven More Years
An agreement that first began in 1996 will be continued until at least 2018. Harrah’s, a subsidiary of Caesars Entertainment Inc., and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will be partners for seven more years.
