CDC Report: 25 percent of Americans don’t know they have diabetes
The CDC released a report on diabetes on Tuesday, June 10 that states that a total of 29 million Americans now have the disease. Even more startling is the revelation that 25 percent of those with the disease don’t even know they have it.
Companies share with Tribe at Technology Expo
Andrew Conseen Duff, an EBCI tribal member, has been in IT and technical engineering for over 30 years. He has made numerous contacts at companies throughout the world, and he organized the EBCI Technology Expo to bring representatives of some of those companies to Cherokee to meet with community and tribal leaders.
NCGOP holds Convention in Cherokee
The North Carolina Republican Party (NCGOP – “Grand Ol’ Party) held its Convention at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort this past weekend. Hundreds of delegates filled the floor of the Event Center to cast their votes for various Republican candidates including Thom Tillis, NC Speaker of the House, who is challenging Sen. Kay Hagan for a Senate seat this fall.

Housing Fair brings vendors, customers together
The EBCI Housing and Community Development Division hosted its annual Housing Fair at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds exhibit hall on Friday, June 6. With the theme “Building Tomorrow’s Communities Today”, the Fair featured many tribal programs and area businesses offering information to the public.
