Cherokee woman gets 15 years for involvement in robbery
Ashlyn Nichole Carothers, 23, of Cherokee, was sentenced on Thursday, Oct. 15 to 180 months in prison for her involvement in a robbery on the Cherokee Indian reservation, announced Jill Westmoreland Rose, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.
Inmate sues for EBCI membership
An inmate at Sing-Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, New York claims Cherokee blood and has filed a lawsuit seeking to become a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
