Last summer, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians declared the opioid crisis a public nuisance. Now, the Tribe has filed a civil lawsuit against a list of manufacturers and wholesale distributors of prescription opioids.

Council approves investigation following lawsuit settlement
Seven former employees of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians have been given a settlement, totaling $698,000, to end a lawsuit filed in December 2015 following their termination.
