BRYSON CITY – The Smoky Mountain Rollergirls’ junior league, the Lil’ Nemesisters and SMRG play their second bouts of their 2015 home season on Saturday, May 9 at the Swain County Recreation Center. Both teams contain several EBCI tribal members.
The Lil’ Nemesisters team takes on the Columbia Quad Squad Junior Rollers in the opening bout of the double header and then SMRG plays the CQS Choca Colas. This event is a fundraiser for Swain/Qualla S.A.F.E., a provider of domestic violence/sexual assault services for those in need on the Qualla Boundary and in Swain County. Donations of personal hygiene items are being collected at the door and a portion of the proceeds will benefit S.A.F.E. A 50/50 raffle benefiting the local chapter of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library will also be held. Frank Lee, of The Freight Hoppers, will be performing during the halftime of the adult bout.
Doors open at 4pm and the first whistle blows at 4:30 p.m. to start the Lil’ Nemesisters’ game. The adults play at 6:30 p.m. Purchase tickets online at www.brownpapertickets.com for $5 or get them at the door for $7 (ages 7 and under are free). Meet and greet with both teams at the after party right down the road at the Nantahala Brewing Company.
