Brenda Lee (Swayney) Sluder, 52, of Cherokee, went home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2015 following a brief stay at the Mission Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville. Her loving family was by her side.
Brenda was the daughter to the late David Swayney, Sr. and Katie (Calhoun) Swayney of Cherokee. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be missed.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Albert “Junior” Sluder; sons, Bill Lambert with wife Vanessa and Two Leaf Sluder with wife Keahna; daughter, Brittney Rogers; brothers, David Swayney, Jr. and O.D. Swayney; sisters, Shirley Cloer and Clara Driver all of Cherokee; several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Wolfe.
A visitation is planned for Brenda on Wednesday, March 4 at the Rock Springs Baptist Church starting at 4:30pm for the general public. Brenda will remain at the church till the hour of service at 11am on Thursday, March 5 with Pastors Greg Morgan and J.T. Lambert officiating. An immediate burial will follow the service in the Swayney Family Cemetery near the family home with pall bearers being Bill Lambert, Two Leaf Sluder, Bo Bradley, Nehi Toineeta, Okie Driver, Will Wright and LeRoy Waldroup with Austin Lambert and Anehi Sluder as acting honoraries.
