BIG COVE COMMUNITY
We are off to a busy start for the fall season. We finished up our paperwork and scrapbook for the Community Judging Competition. This year the scrapbook was dedicated to our wonderful and devoted chairman Samuel Panther. He has been our chairman for 10 years.
Our community is also beginning to work on our application for the WNC Honors Awards, our float for the parade, and our booth for the fair. Anyone who would like to volunteer or help out with either one can contact Totsie Welch 497-7172 or Mariah Mahan 788-4574.
We are also working on getting our Community Watch program back up and running. There will be another meeting to discuss this on Monday, Sept. 15 at 7pm at the Big Cove Rec Center. Anyone who is interested in helping with this, please come.
Our Tribal Council representatives delivered some exciting news that Tribal Council passed that the Big Cove community receive funds for a Community/Recreation center. We are very excited about this and are looking forward to it.
Elections were held at our monthly meeting on Sept. 2, and the results are as follows:
Chairman: Sam Panther
Vice-Chairman: Butch Hill
Treasurer: Lisa Hardesty
Secretary: Consie Girty
Youth Representative: Mariah Mahan
Sports Representative: Dean Hill
Election Board Representative: Margaret French
The next meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 7pm. We invite all community members to attend.
