MAGGIE VALLEY – The Lady Braves traveled to Maggie Valley Club and Resort on Monday, Aug. 25 for their third match of the season to take on the Highlands Lady Highlanders and the Smoky Mountain Mustangs. The Mustangs cancelled before the match, leaving the Lady Braves 10-person team against a two-person Highlands team.
“The older girls played really well; they just need to work on their short game. They are driving well,” said Coach Sharon Bradley after the match.
Tysha Sampson started the day strong by carding a birdie off the first tee and finishing atop the leaderboard by shooting a personal season low 50. Latika French, Bree Stamper, and Peri Wildcatt finishing tied for second with 54, while Highlands Alexa Reese rounded out the top-five with 57.
Latika French had a strong outing and kept her score low by shooting par on hole-seven and dropping her tee shot off hole-nine to within 7 feet of the pin. Long-hitter Peri Wildcatt had the drive of the day on hole-five when she crushed her tee-shot to within 75 yards of the pin. Bree Stamper and Blake Wachacha also had a par apiece.

The Lady Braves continue their season this week with a home match at Sequoyah National Golf Club on Wednesday, Aug. 27 and travel to Tryon Country Club on Thursday, Aug. 28 where they will have the opportunity to test their skill against more competitors from larger schools.
