The bringing of the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to Cherokee in October was a remarkable healing experience for many of our veterans and their families. On Monday, November 12, we will publically celebrate that and honor the service of each one in a special way.
Knowing that the Creator of the universe is infinite love, healing and forgiveness is one step for many of us. Allowing that awareness to break through the pain barriers caused by the horror of war is quite another. The tears that we witnessed at the Wall, the acceptance and peace that they brought about made all our collective efforts worthwhile. Sometimes, serving each other means more than ordinary day-to-day helping. This was one of those times.
The Youngdeer Cherokee American Legion Post is grateful to all those who helped. You know who you are. We thank you.
To honor the service and the healing, please be with us at 11am on Monday, Nov. 12 in the exhibit hall at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds. We will present awards, have special music and a great meal. We want you to be a part of this.
Thank you,
L. H. Harding
