Christopher Maney, an EBCI tribal member, was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 4 on a four-count federal indictment. According to information from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Maney was indicted on the following:
– One count of assault with a dangerous weapon (that being hands and feet); maximum penalty is 10 years imprisonment and $250,000 fine
– One count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury; maximum penalty is 10 years imprisonment and $250,000 fine
– One count of assault resulting in substantial bodily injury to an individual under 16; maximum penalty is five years imprisonment and $250,000 fine
– One count of caregiver (parent or other) intentionally assaulting a child under 16 causing serious bodily injury, or emotional injury or brain damage. The range for this is 44 months to 231 months in prison.
Note: Maney has only been charged with these crimes and should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
