Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel announced on Wednesday, Sept. 12 that Paxton Myers as Vice-President of Casino Marketing. Myers, an EBCI tribal member, is a graduate of Western Carolina University and was previously at Harrah’s Cherokee in the Cherokee Development Program and later as Casino Marketing Manager.
For the past four years, Myers resided in Washington, DC and held the positions of Policy Advisor for Congressman Dale E. Kildee and Chief of Staff for the Chairwoman of the National Indian Gaming Commission, both providing him valuable experience in gaming regulations.
He was recently selected as one of the top 40 under 40 in Indian Country for the Indian Progress in Business Award from the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development. He was also selected as one of the top 25 people to watch in 2010 by Global Gaming Magazine.
Prior to moving to Washington, DC, Myers served as the Chief of Staff/Governmental Affairs Liaison for Principal Chief Michell Hicks where he played a role in negotiating inter-governmental agreements with the state and local governments related to Tribal gaming.
Scott Barber, Harrah’s Regional President Mid-South, stated, “I am pleased that we were able to fill this position with a Tribal member who brings valuable and varied experience to casino marketing, VIP player development, as well as gaming regulations.”
Myers will assume his new position on Sept. 17.
