Glen G. Reed, 79, passed away on Tuesday May 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Glen Retired from the Cherokee Fire Department and he was an avid golfer winning gold medals over the last few years in the Senior Games. He enjoyed teaching and coaching all ages most of his life in softball, baseball, basketball, and golf.
Glen enjoyed singing gospel songs, but also enjoyed listening to them. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, his children, and grandchildren.
If you knew Glen, you knew he loved God, the church, his family, golf, gardening, and eating.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Addie and Fidele Reed; his wife and soul mate, Nita Reed; brothers, Wilson, Henry, and Billy; sisters, Josie, Rachel, Nellie, Cindy, Annie, and Dolly; and grandson, Stevie Ross.
He is survived by daughters, Carolyn Panther and husband Samuel, Marcelina Long, Darlene Reed; sons, Frank “Bubba” Reed and wife Phyll, Ronald “Bubby” Reed; two sisters, Lula Owl, Maggie Owl and husband Clifford; grandchildren, Sissy, Dooner, Lopper, RK, Abby, Jada, Deanie, Nick, Rob, Matt, Lucy, Perry, Kaylind, and Hiawatha; and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. Friday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Percy Cunningham, Rev. Danny Sweet, and Lane Smoker will officiate with burial in the Reed Family Cemetery.
The family received friends from 5-9pm on Thursday at Crisp Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be former members of Little Bill’s ball team: Scott Taylor, George Goings, Marty Taylor, Lumpy Lambert, Deb Locust and Pepper Taylor.
