NANTAHALA – Cherokee Basketball got off to a good start on Tuesday, Nov. 23 as both varsity squads came away with wins against the Nantahala Hawks. The Braves won 51-71 and the Lady Braves ran away with their game against the Lady Hawks by a score of 77-28.
Tsalidi Sequoyah led the way for the Braves with 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Avery Mintz led the Lady Braves with 18 points, four blocks and four rebounds.
The Lady Braves jumped out to an early 25-6 lead in the first quarter and followed that up by outscoring Nantahala 21-9 in the second quarter. Nantahala’s Lauren Gearhart scored 15 points to lead her team.
