MISS CHEROKEE 2016-17
Siyo! The month of March, I was asked to attend the annual Woman’s Day. This is a day that honors our Cherokee women. I was blessed to be there with some great Cherokee women.
For many years, I have been volunteering for the BabyFace program at the Hope Center. I was asked to come help prepare Easter baskets for their annual Easter party. It is always a joy to volunteer with this program.
At the end of the month, I had the pleasure of traveling to Washington, DC with many other tribal members. I attend the Cherokee Days event that the National Museum of the American Indian has every year. While there, I was able to meet so many new people and check out the outwork displayed by our Cherokee locals as well as the Cherokee Nation. Each day, I had two meet-and-greets along with Little Miss Cherokee Neveyah Panther, Junior Miss Cherokee Alitima Perkins, Miss Cherokee (Nation) Sky Wildcat, Junior Miss Cherokee (Nation) Lauryn Skye McCoy, and Miss Keetoowah Cherokee Chelsea Tiger. I also got to participate in many dance demonstrations that the Oconaluftee Indian Village and the Warriors of Anikituwah performed.
Touring the museum, hanging out with princesses, and representing my Tribe was the best part of my weekend!
If anyone would like to request me to attend and event please email:
Sgi, thank you.
