Jesse James Taylor 89, of Cherokee, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Mission Hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late John and Nora Squirrel Taylor. Jesse was preceded in death by a son, Guy John Taylor; two sisters, Margaret and Katie Brady; and four brothers, George, Sim, Herbert, and Theodore Taylor.
Jesse is survived by a brother, Edward Taylor of Cherokee; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday March 11 at the Cherokee Church of God in Soco with the Reverends Bo Parris and Charles Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hornbuckle family cemetery. A visitation will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, March 10 at the church where Jesse will remain until the funeral service.
