Jerome Watty, 66, of the Big Cove Community passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2015 while at the Mission Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Jerome was the son of the late Jessan Watty and Wallie (Pheasant) Watty of Cherokee. He was the husband to his surviving wife Geneva (Kalonaheskie) Watty. Jerome was a laborer all his life and worked many different jobs, but it was said he worked hard and was humble.
He is also survived by his children, Gloria Vargas with husband Deyve and Christopher Watty with wife Sheronda; grandchildren, Nalisha Watty, Willie Arch, Noahndria Arch, Jayce Watty, Amans Watty, David Maney, Kevin Swimmer; great-grandchildren, Emily Gurrero, DJ Gurrero, Lissi Gurrero, Xerena, Locust, Zoey Swimmer, Jacquellin Arch, Brayden Arch; brother, Manuel Watty; sister, Wendy Bradley and special friend Willard Lossiah and many more friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Steven Watty and David Watty and one sister, Winona Reed.
Jerome will have a visitation from 6-9pm on Thursday, March 5 in the Chapel of Long House Funeral Home in Cherokee with a short funeral service at 10am on Friday, March 6 in the Chapel before going to a quick burial following his request in the Wolfe Family Cemetery in the Big Cove community. The Reverend James “Bo” Parris will officiate and the pall bearers will be among friends and family.
Long House Funeral Home is assisting the family in the final arrangements.
