GOLF:  Two Lady Braves qualify for state

Cherokee’s Peri Wildcatt and Bree Stamper have qualified for the 1A Women’s Golf State Championship scheduled for Monday, Oct. 27 at Foxfire Resort and Golf Club in Foxfire Village.  They qualified due to their scores at the 1A Western Golf Regional Championship held on Monday, Oct. 20 at Glen Oaks Golf Club in Maiden.

Stamper shot a 117 and Wildcatt shot a 118.  Teammate Tysha Sampson also competed in the Regionals and narrowly missed qualifying for state with a 127.  Overall, Cherokee took fourth at the Regional Championship with a score of 362.

Paige Church, Cherryville, won the individual title with a score of 79 and Hendersonville won the team title with a score of 295.

At Monday’s state championship match, Stamper is set to tee-off at 10:50am and Wildcatt will follow her at 11am.
