I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Richard “Yogi” Crowe Memorial Scholarship Fund for their assistance with my educational funding. After graduating from Stanford University in 2013, I served an internship in Washington, D.C. with the Department of Agriculture. It was then that I came to realize that I wished to pursue my education further and obtain a doctorate degree. I decided to apply for graduate school in my preferred field of Psychology.
The support of the Richard Crowe Memorial Fund is assisting me in funding my education at the California School of Professional Psychology to obtain my doctorate degree within its 4-year program. In the spirit of the man who inspired the Richard “Yogi” Crowe Memorial Scholarship Fund, it is my fervent hope to one day serve tribal communities through my education while also inspiring other Native students to obtaining post-graduate degrees. Students like me are fortunate to have such supportive organizations willing and dedicated to helping Native students succeed in a society where they still only hold 2 percent of the nation’s post-graduate degrees. The Richard “Yogi” Crowe Memorial Scholarship Fund is making this possible for many Eastern Band members and is much appreciated.
