EBCI tribal members and others will have a chance to comment on the future management of the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests during an open house scheduled for May 1.

The open house will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the Acquoni Exposition Center, 1501 Acquoni Road in Cherokee.

During the open house, tribal members and others interested in the future management of the two national forests can provide input on topics such as cultural resources, recreation, managing timber and other forest products, wilderness and other special places, wildlife habitat, and  access.

The U.S. Forest Service is in the process of revising the management plan for the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests, a process that is expected to be completed around August 2016.
